SME Power Quote:
People power is about the future, not just the past. And I am glad that today we honor those from the past but also those from the present working for the future. People power should be about new ideas, like Gawad Kalinga is a new idea, Pondong Pinoy is a new idea, not old complaints. People power should be about fighting for a stronger nation, not just fighting.
And people power is about the heroism of the many who in their daily labors and trust in the almighty which was a very important characteristic of 1986. People power is about all of them who bear faith in a new Philippines.
- Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

Editor's Take
When giving your company an online presence, the three key things to consider are:
* Making your site more attractive visitors or subscribers
* Securing the information your visitors need
* Managing content
As people’s needs change and moods fluctuate, so has the Internet. No longer content with brochure-type sites, companies are reinventing their websites to rake in revenues for the business. By all indications, the trend amongst growth-seeking Small and Medium-scale Enterprises in the Philippines is to build e-commerce sites.
Market-savvy entrepreneurs are no longer content with providing product or service information but are keen to persuade prospects to make purchases online. More Filipino SMEs are confident to use their websites as e-commerce tools—enhancing marketability and profitability of the company’s product and service line.
As we take this opportunity to announce that we received the Anvil Award of Merit for Website Production from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, we also bring news that exciting changes are in store for our community site SME.com.ph.
These changes will take place over the next several months. We are determined to evolve a fresh face and provide exciting content for the growing online SME community in the country. These changes are inspired by the courage, determination and pioneer spirit of SMEs who early on took the leap with us into the World Wide Web.
SME.com.ph emerge stronger and better positioned to serve the SME Community in the Philippines. We aim to take SME.com.ph to a higher level, make our website better able to keep community members and visitors engaged and involved. This is what Web 2.0 is all about. Some of the things that emerged during a Web 2.0 brainstorming session are ...
Web 1.0 has DoubleClick, mp3.com, Britannica Online, personal Web sites, page views, content management systems, and stickiness. While Web 2.0 has Google AdSense, Napster, Wikipedia, Blogging, cost per click, wikis, and syndication.
Companies or businesses, groups or individuals cannot afford to lag behind. It is imperative for the SME Community in the Philippines to keep in step with the Internet revolution.
The Internet is here to stay. And will continue to revolutionize the way we think, live and do business on the planet.
