By Juan F. Alfonso

Mining the Value of Seminars
To make money, you have to spend money. For SME owners, knowing when and how to spend money spells a big difference in ensuring business continuity and success.
Putting money into sales training and entrepreneur skills development programs makes good business sense and is considered good business practice.
Here are some tips how to make the best of the seminar circuit-
Take lots of notes. Some of the ideas might not be new to you, but the discussions about will throw new light on your own experience. Your memory can only take so much, so jot down the punch lines. You should sort them out later.
Ask for the presentation handout. If the speakers don't provide them, get in touch with the organizers. More often than not, the resource speakers will be pleased to share the information you need.
Use break time as an opportunity to network. Seminars and briefings provide terrific opportunities to network with other SME owners, prospective buyers and professional business advisors. Networking allows SME owners to share insights, build business partnerships, and promote products and services. Don't forget to pack sales material and lots of business cards.
If you have something to contribute to the discussion, participate. Use the opportunity to introduce yourself and the company. Smart SME owners always have a brief intro prepared for such opportunities.
SME-oriented business enhancement programs come at a price but you can still find quite a lot at a minimal cost and some even for free. You might just find one program that interests you in our website and start joining these events!
