Global eBusiness Solutions for Filipino SMEs

Seven years ago, Planters Development Bank (Plantersbank)—the country’s largest private development bank—and its shareholder, the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), saw the vast opportunities that the information technology revolution could offer Small and Medium Enterprises. So in June 2000, Plantersbank decided to combine its expertise in SME promotion with IFC’s global resources to give rise to the joint venture PDB SME SOLUTIONS, Inc. or SME.COM.PH.

By specializing in e-commerce and information technology-based services and solutions for Small and Medium Enterprises, SME.COM.PH envisions itself as the Partner and Success Driver of Choice in e-Business of the Filipino entrepreneur.

At the outset, SME.COM.PH was the pioneer proponent of internet use among and web marketing design for SMEs. At that stage, SME.COM.PH engaged in patient work among SMEs to promote familiarity, build confidence in e-Business and encourage entrepreneurs to embrace web-based business technology.

In 2004, SME.COM.PH took it a step further, revolutionizing its service and evolving into the One-Stop Web Portal for Filipino Entrepreneurs. SME.COM.PH would help entrepreneurs use information and communications technology (ICT) as a tool to transform their businesses into globally competitive SMEs.
