Helping the SME Community

If we are going to think about the fact, that before these giant corporations became very successful and competitive in our economy, they surely started from the very beginning where a table, a chair, a filing cabinet, an old typewriter and probably a telex machine were the only equipment on their offices.

Year 1998, the country had witnessed several laws and amendments passed by the legislature to help improve and support all the Small and Medium Enterprises. Several corporations followed suit to give their support to these SME, and to the government.

Through the help of these corporations, and the laws laid out by the government, the rise of SMEs’ financial stability, and the uplifting of their operations from the backyard system to a corporate type was established.

Though still on its infancy, SMEs are already getting into the market globally through the use of e-commerce. They are now becoming one of the guys, so to speak, who can break through the foreign market.

Our team, the SME.com.ph and Plantersbank are one of the forefronts in assisting these SMEs. We are now actively involved in going to far flung provinces to bring to these small and medium enterprises the techniques and technologies to keep up with globalization by way of offering our SME Toolkit. We had so far covered eight provinces doing Road Show which to date have been quite successful.

If more corporations will do the same thing, and the government will give its full support, we will have an explosion of entrepreneurs in our midst, and a community of SMEs doing global marketing and bringing to the world our very own Filipino products and ingenuity.
