Editor's Take

Play it Straight

Sometimes it can’t be helped if we meander from the mainstream topics of market and making money to comment on the mundane such as the broiling word war between the country’s top variety show hosts Willy Revillame and Joey De Leon.

From day one, this space got the impression that Revillame and De Leon were stooges in the bitter rivalry between their employers, the country’s top media networks. This only served to alienate members of the viewing public and raise more questions about the direction and management of popular media.

If there’s a bit of wisdom that entrepreneurs and marketers can draw from the Revillame-De Leon feud it’s this: There’s nothing that makes you look smaller than badmouthing a legitimate competitor. Enough said.
