To dream is human. People dream of going into business to become masters of their own time and create personal wealth. Others dream of reinventing themselves and pursuing lives that they 'really' wanted.
Such dreams might germinate overtime before the dreamer decides to realize it as a venture.
Having worked with SMEs for several years, I've learned that a common trait among successful entrepreneurs is the ability to dream and the courage to translate their dream into reality. I've also observed that the things that entrepreneurs LOVE TO DO are the starting points of successful business ventures, rather than what entrepreneurs are capable of doing.
Here are some points you may want to consider before starting a new venture, entering a new sales territory or expanding what your business already has to offer.
Find an idea or niche that has the potential of creating new wealth using the gifts and talents you excel at. Make sure that these are aligned with what you love to do.
Next, develop the passion to deal with problems and needs of the venture. The success of your project depends on your ability to fulfill a great need, solve a problem or pressing issue, or advance a cause that others are passionate about.
It is better if the venture puts you among people and activities you enjoy most. Positive experiences nourish dreams and keep them alive.
Make sure you believe in the success of your venture and you develop the will to pursue your venture despite the 'risks'. A depth of personal experience and the experiences of others play an important role in ensuring the success of new ventures. Learn from them.
There is no better time to start being enterprising than today. Be not afraid to pursue your dream.
