For Better or for Worse

“For better or for worse” is the statement of commitment that couples make when they are wed. Commitment, the key to overcoming the tests of patience and understanding, applies in marriage as it does in business.

The situation of two people much in-love is a good metaphor for a business. Even though the odds are against the couple, their commitment to the relationship sustains them and helps them look to the future.

I am of the opinion that commitment to a business transcends strategic or tactical concerns. Becoming an entrepreneur is living in the statement of ‘for better or for worse’. You simply do not just raise your hands and say: ‘I give up’ when things aren’t working the way you expected it to be after months of getting into the business.

Whether the business gets off to a rocky start, or even when the road twists and turns, a true entrepreneur does not get easily discouraged but remains married to the vision.

Getting into business is marrying the one IDEA that you want to try to work out because it is part of your journey as a person and as an entrepreneur—getting the hang of everything.
