Blog for Business's Sake?

For most people, blogging is one crazy idea to do especially when it comes to incorporating it in business. In fact, Heather Armstrong got dooced [a verb that means getting ‘fired for blogging’] when she discussed her job on her blog.
Today, it is one venue where businesses can find a potential client or create profitable opportunity.
In 2004, Merriam-Webster declares the word ‘blog’ as ‘Word of the Year’, which rightfully earn its attention even to businesses and corporations. Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs Incorporated and successfully grew its portfolio into 85 blogs. In October 2005, he then sold his blogs to AOL for US$25 million. Quite a hefty amount of money, isn’t it?

Editor's Take
Having a bad day? Are the sales results not bright as you expected? Are there too many recurring slip ups in production? Is cash flow suffering because of a pile up in uncollected debts?

Before you pin the blame on "unfair competition," so-called "in-born indolence of Filipinos" or pure "bad luck" caused by a river running behind your property, you don't have to look very far. Most business problems are systems-related and start at the top.
As the key person in the business, you may have been contributing to your own company's downward slide. Problems happen when a business is growing too fast for the entrepreneur to cope. Or because the entrepreneur has become complacent soon as the company has reached success.
Don't let a few setbacks keep you down. Remember, you also have the power to turn things around for the better.
- Accept the fact that you made a mistake. After all, to err is human.
- Second, do not be too hard on yourself. Give yourself a pat on the shoulders. Love yourself. Forgive yourself so you'd be able to move on and be able to start a clean slate.
- Third, start today. Do not delay it any further. You would not be successful if you keep on procrastinating.
- Then, you focus your goals. Choose your goal and imagine what it would be like to touch success.
- Share the burden or the vision with your team. No one is an island. Any goal can easily be achieved if you work with more hands and more brains.
This four-day Easter Weekend, let us take time to find solitude and quiet to reflect, meditate and renew ourselves for the long haul ahead.
