Perhaps one of the most celebrated events in the year is All Hallows Eve or Halloween. It is a holiday celebrated with bonfires, costume parties, Jack-o'-lanterns, scary stories and trick-or-treating. For the enterprising Filipino, Halloween offers some business opportunities.
There are three business ideas I can think of at random.
First, is face painting, which is a hit for children, and even for grown ups. A regular two to three-hour creative gig pays two to three thousand pesos. It is not bad at all for someone who enjoys the company of kids and who loves to mingle with people in a party. Now that’s what I call ‘mixing business with pleasure!’
Next effort involves getting creative individuals to express their artistic side through t-shirt design. You could invite people or officemates, whom you think are ‘creative’ enough and are willing to render outrageous Halloween-inspired tees to be sold at auction, a portion of proceeds to be donated to charity. This way, you have provided a venue for people to express themselves and make a ‘difference’ as well.
Lastly, if you are the type who is fond of putting up ‘tiangge’ then maybe setting up a booth in cemeteries suggests lucrative returns. You could sell scented candles with prayers, inspirational thoughts and more that you can personalize for the departed ones—it’s like paying for every poem composed. You can even add flowers with loving messages—the more saintly the better.
Now, have I sparked anything? Have you opted what to do when the next Halloween arrives?
I believe that there are more business ideas you could muster in the future. As an enterprising Filipino, such occasions are 'openings' for novelty products and services. Later on, it would not just be limited to a particular holiday, but can also be an all-year-round item. Who knows?
