Real Freedom
Over centuries, freedom has been defined in many ways. “The history of freedom is a tale of debates and disagreements and conflicts and controversies,” says world-renowned historian Eric Foner of Columbia University. “And the meaning of freedom has been fought out, battled over, at every level of society.”
In the Philippines, real freedom translates as the uplift of the majority of Filipinos, from a state of survival on a meager two dollars a day to the enjoyment of full lives; i.e. Freedom from Want.
The best definition of real freedom, perhaps, is the right to enjoy all the privileges or rights of citizenship and membership in a community. It also means having the power to exercise choice and make decisions without constraint.
At the start of National MSME Development Week on July 8, another feather was added to Planters Development Bank’s cap when it received the first-ever recipient of the President’s Citation for “Best Practice in Improving Access to Finance”. It is the bank’s contribution to exercise ‘real freedom’.
In our opinion, the practice of real freedom means enabling entrepreneurs to compete globally; by providing opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs); by going beyond lending and expanding horizons for enabling entrepreneurs in the realm of advice, development and infrastructure.
It is certainly a better environment where banks are neither restricted nor forced to serve a niche, like MSMEs. With that more and more avenues of opportunity are being created on the road to a better quality of life.

Propolis Lifestyle
Propolis Lifestyle (PL) brings the healing powers of bee propolis by integrating apitheraphy to the younger generation. The company provides a wide range of products as an alternate for synthetic products for skin and personal care. Its product name is derived from the resinous mixture that honey bees gather from tree buds, sap flows and other botanical sources. Propolis also functions as a “building material” to protect bees from external contamination during their stay in the hive.
PROPOLIS TINCTURE is its initial product, a natural first aid kit that can heal skin problems such as irritations and infections. The product was cited as the 2009 Most Inspiring Microentrepreneur in Bicol by the Go Negosyo team.
