Translating Optimism Into Gains

Almost nine in 10 Filipinos (89 percent) believe that 2011 would be a better year than 2010, according to the latest survey by Pulse Asia. "Optimism is the predominant public sentiment, with huge majorities across geographic areas [87 percent to 93 percent] and socioeconomic classes [88 percent to 96 percent] saying they will face the coming year with hope," says Dr. Ana Maria Tabunda, Pulse Asia chief research fellow.

It´s good news that Filipinos keep high degree of optimism and at the same time give a high rating on the Pnoy presidency despite its initial mistakes.

Definitely, this will boost the political stock of the government. However, government must not rest on its laurels because this optimism and ‘pogi points’ will not be permanent. Government must seriously and be focused on working out the promises it made during the campaign period so Juan dela Cruz will not just be living on optimism alone.
